BIOGRAPHY

Val Enders was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, and moved to Alberta at the age of eight. After retiring from the workforce, Val became interested in pursuing art and through numerous workshops and classes has become proficient in many mediums, including watercolor, acrylic, oil, pastel, graphite, colored pencil, and sculpture. In 2014, Val travelled to Rhode Island to enroll in a Zentangle teaching seminar and is now a Certified Zentangle Teacher. She has taught at the North Edmonton Seniors Association and the Allied Arts Council of Spruce Grove.

Val moves from one medium to the next as her spirit wills her to do so, and she loves to experiment with new techniques and materials. Val's acrylic pours are a vivid showcase of expert colour manipulation encased in glassy, luminous resin.

Her work is a joyful expression of her love of exploration and adventure to be found in her art studio.

ARTIST STATEMENT

My artwork is an integral part of my everyday life. I paint, draw, and create to give my body, mind, and soul a chance to rejuvenate. I have pursued a lifelong passion of artistic exploration, and this creativity keeps me grounded in a busy and chaotic world. I strive to encourage others to pick up the brush, pen, or pencil to coax out the artist within themselves.
